Campagnolo acknowledged the difficulties mounting the cables and went as far as patenting a version that made it easier.

https://www.google.com/patents/US4869351

Thanks to tears for gears for the patent number

The 3.5mm is common on Italian motor scouters. A 7 piece allen set including 3,5mm is about $2.oo here Ed

Seeking Information/Knowledge About Delta Brakes

Plenty of websites sell them for less than $10 including shipping. Just search for '3.5mm allen wrench'.

Edit: ebay even less. Not long ago they were still offered as Delta allen wrench for +$20 but I guess the consumer has figured it out...

I think if I had a bicycle with them I would keep them around. As I do not, and worked on them when new they were not a "racer's" brake and will not seek them out now. Major styling points though, even though the initial production was withdrawn. One of those "what were they thinking?" designs, it added to the dismissal of Corsa Record at the time by many.

From a historical aspect many races (including in the TDF) were won with these brakes so they were not just an overpriced novelty. And for sure its value remains steady and will only go up in the future.

Uhmmm...... I still think that the Deltas presented a good bit of functional compromise for aesthetics and aerodynamics. The fact that you only really saw these Delta brakes used by teams in the TDF for maybe just a couple of seasons, kinda says they are not the best idea when it comes to brakes for racing where fundtion takes priority to maintain seconds worth of advantage against the next team..... Like I said before, if this was such a good idea, Campy, Shimano and other brake manufacturers would still be selling Delta style brakes today and the pros would be using them. Magura does not really count as they always kinda sold unusual brake designs, so we should not be so surprised that they have a Deltaesque hydraulic rim brake system in the market today, a derivative of the HS77 brakeset....

Delta brake revival.

Very early 1983 Swiss made Weinmann 'Delta' brakeset. No logo with exception to the quick release / cable adjuster. Plastic face plate also does bearing / pivot duty. Short travel MA, they work fine with cable top feed levers. Easy setup. Though can see how road dust can quickly deter pivot areas and likely why the later 531 type had boots. Smaller than Campy Delta.

These have steel hardware but titanium replacement bolts are not too difficult to find.

As for weight, these calipers are only 3 grams heavier than Campagnolo's Record 2040/2041 side pulls!

Levers depicted are first aero type from Weinmann.

Modolo made their own version, the Kronos:

VeloBase.com - Component: Modolo Kronos

Lighter than either Campagnolo's or Weinmann's, probably because they used plastic for the cover shrouds and levers. Reportedly even poorer stopping power than the others as well.

I've never been too keen on any of them, frankly.

I have a set of Weinmann Deltas w/ levers, later than crank_addict's.

Have the bike to put them on , but haven't gotten around to it.

where are those pics?
Does anyone have a set of these on a bike?

<The maintenance is too hard > same as <tubular tires are too much trouble> = it depends on your perspective and experiences.
I missed it in the 'grewing up phaze' so caught it 'on the rebounding phaze'

And these Deltas will take 27mm tires!
