It's coming a lot closer than the last one did. We have cleaned off the roof, and tied down what can't come down, moved lots of stuff inside, and battened the (wood)windows and doors. We don't expect to get off as easily as last time, as this one is considerably further west than that one was. It's due at 2 AM.

Ideally, he’s supposed to stay in a dog crate for up to 3 weeks. He also has to wear a cone for that period. I’m going to lock him my middle room where there are soft things and his litter box. He will get fed there as well. Vet said that should work, but I also should expect some bleeding.

Protests and looting last night after a police-involved killing of a man with a knife. None of it near me or work—so far. But I now hear several choppers in the air.

Fingers crossed for both of you; please keep us posted.

So after a hellish day at work yesterday (and not looking to get better) I needed a Valium to get to sleep last night (Humbugs do do drugs as prescribed by their doctors) and while I wasn't really motivated to hop on the trainer (cold rain outside) I did pretty well and Garmin gave me the highest Performance Condition I've ever seen. It started at -6, but rapidly rose and then flowed between +5 and +10.

Thanks. Not yet sure if he's being released today or tomorrow. He's not supposed to clean himself down there because surgery "wounds" in that area (his urethra) are more delicate than a lot of other places, hence the cone.

According to the maps, the eye is passing over now, and we do have a little wind and rain. But not like we expected, which is a good thing. I expect we'll get a lot more rain throughout the day. I thought (briefly) about going for a ride, so I could say I rode in a hurricane. But it's a touch on the cold side, to be riding in the rain.
Thanks for the well wishes

On a lighter note, and cycling-related content, mrs datlas has announced that she wants me to stop using the garage as a bike shed and migrate the bikes to the actual shed (which is old and decrepit but fairly weatherproof). She has allowed me to keep ONE bike in the garage. I suppose that is reasonable.

Good point. No security. We do live in a "quiet" neighborhood, but that is a consideration.
I can also use the unfinished part of the basement that's inside the house, the only downside is I have to roll the bikes through the finished part of the basement which would possibly make a mess. That might be wiser. I will take this under advisement.

I assume that the PC is primarily based on a combination of HR and power? Because I was doing some lower cadence (+/- 90) intervals at increasing power (but decreasing duration), and my HR doesn't tend to tick up that much in those situations, and the highest PC was during those more intense intervals.

I'm beginning to think that Performance Condition is ********. On recent trainer rides, it's been telling me +4 to +7 at the outset. Today, after reading your comment, it spit out -8, which made me actually laugh. Post-workout, I decided to look at how my PC has been changing during rides. All of those rides that started in the positive category? Yeah, the PC drooped on all of those and ended up in the negatives. Today? Started at -8 and rose to +11

It's also funny that at COTA it'll usually tell me "Recovery Check: GOOD" and then "Performance Condition: -6", probably because it's hot and at the end of the day.
If TSS did a better job of accounting for indoors effort, it'd be about perfect.
