Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Framed bikes

Anyone have any experience? They're a local company here in Minnesota. They currently have 'new' (albeit blemished) frames for sale on the usual auction site. The claim is that the frames were built for display and never ridden.

I was under the assumption that they used mass-produced Chinese carbon frames and labeled them, but I was informed their frames are made in the U.S.

Any info appreciated before I take the plunge!

News to me that they are MUSA. I really figured they were China open mold frames where they work with a manufacturer to create something unique enough based off existing molds.

They sure don't advertise MUSA.

Their road frames are the ones on discount! After creating this thread I did some more research and saw that they're more orientated towards off-road bikes.

I need to clarify the company didn't claim this. Here's the exact quote: "Their carbon Marquette frame is built in the US.. The alloy frames come from Taiwan"

Your talking about this bike?

https://www.framedbikes.com/products...tain-bike-27-5

$1300 for a well speced bike is unlikely to have a frame built in the USA. Maybe designed in the USA but all that laying up of Carbon is very time consuming and its unlikely to be cost effective to that in the US of A.

But the Geo charts are all wrong so how do you pick them? The bike you mention has a reach of 756mm in size 56 according to their own geo chart.

The front hub labelling is backwards. Who does that?

https://www.framedbikes.com/ Never heard of them before .... I'd do some online searching , they must have some reviews somewhere .... but it is way to o intricate a site to be a total scam, I think.

Not so sure they are made in the USA, no matter what you "heard" but I am not sure they are not, either. For those prices and component groups they are on par with other Chinese frame/low mark-up bikes----the companies which don't spend a money on R&D and advertising and can thus make a profit while undercutting the bigger names.

It seems their Mallorca and Savona frames have identical geometry, so not so sure what's up with two models .... I see the both come with a Tiagra option; Savona only offers 800 105 or 6800 Ultegra, and Mallorca only Ultegra 6800 or SRAM APEX.

Looks legit, prices look good, but I would do some online searching before i dropped any money.

Took the plunge....twice

I went for it despite the totally unreadable geometry charts. Got the Tiagra build Framed Savona last year and it's been awesome. Comfortable, stiff, light, had a skinnier down tube than some of the competition, and hasn't had a single issue since I had my LBS put it together, granted it came mostly assembled. Have put easily 1.2k miles it and has been a lovely ride the whole way.

Damn google ads got me to bite on buying one of the Andorra frame and fork sets ($345, how could I resist?), and it arrived today. Looks fresh, and have no complaints about Framed as a company, but it definitely looks like they've politely bowed out of the road bike market for good, but the deal on their gravel bikes is still hard to match. Nothing like $1000 for full carbon, but pretty sure they're in the $1600 range, which is still a solid buy.
