FSA crank to shimano

Got a 2010 Bianchi with an Fsa triple crank and a BB30 bottom bracket, I want to change the crank to Shimano R565, 50/34 (compact). Can I do that with the BB30 bottom bracket or do I need to get a new bottom bracket? Thanks!

All Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets have a 24mm spindle and your FSA likely has a 30mm spindle, so you will need a bottom bracket made to accept a 24mm spindle or some sort of adapter.

You either:
Need a new BB and crankset and a NOS front shifter

Or

Need a new BB, and crankset, and (new) shifters, and derailleurs.

This get expensive due to generational parts compatibility, and double versus triple drivetrains.

There are adapters for 30mm to 24mm spindles for ~$20-40, which would be roughly a bit cheaper than a new BB.
Overall absent access to cast off equipment for cheap, this will be a ~$400-600 project. Your rear wheel freehub
maybe 8-9-10 spd which would limit use of 11 spd cassettes to ATB cassettes or the Shimano HG700/800 11/34 cassette.
Your RD might work or be incompatible with the cable pull of your replacement brifters.

Wheels Mfg

I have a 2018 Cannondale Carbon Synapse that I recently converted to a shimano 105 crankset. Mine has a BB30a bottom bracket and my LBS installed a Wheels Mfg conversion BB. They also make BB conversions for BB30. So far it’s been great!

If you are getting a Shimano crank, then why not get the Shimano BB that matches both your crank and your BB shell?

If you are ordering it online, you could call or email the vendor. Usually they know, but obviously they aren't the definitive source and do make mistakes. Many times you can go to the manfacturers website and for current products they will have the recommended stuff they require listed with them somewhere in the specs or description.

Decent sites like Shimano also have compatibility charts on the technical documentaion site. Since there are so many products that can work with others, the chart can be confusing and complicated at first... maybe second and third time you use it too. <grin>

Take this link: https://productinfo.shimano.com/#/co...453&acid=C-455

While on that page push <ctrl><f> if PC <cmd><f> if mac. Then enter fc-r565. Should take you to the one and only hit. You'll see the compatible BB's listed on the right side. Note there are threaded and press fit. You'll then have to look up each BB and determine which are for your BB shell on your frame. Might be all of them or it might be only one, don't know. But certainly you've got the basics of figuring things out better now.

Hints to look for are type of BB shell, width of BB shell. BB30 shell maybe?

Shimano doesn't offer bb's for BB30 frames. They only make Press Fit bb's for PF71,86,90,92 etc.

Your BB30 shell is 42mm. So you need a 42mm 'BB30 to Shimano 24mm' bb. The Wheels Manufacturing option is popular. Also Token Ninja is another option.

For example . This will fit
.https://wheelsmfg.com/bb30-to-outboa...ngs-black.html

You could keep the current bb30 bearings in the shell and use adapters like these.

Do not buy a 46mm PF30 to 24mm bb. It wont fit.
