Too many ads...
Hi all, new here and I must say I'm surprised and disappointed by the number of ads. With other forums I've used, usually there's a lot of ads if you're lurking, but once you join and sign-in they decrease dramatically and are generally non-obstructive.
Not the case here it seems; I don't want videos with sound playing when I open a page, and huge ads all over, including a big one that goes into the original post, therefore making it look different than all the others and harder to read overall. In addition, my browser is slow and herky-jerky dealing with it all, especially the videos that just play on a loop over and over (awfully distracting to see that in my peripheral vision when I'm trying to read). Many ads are dynamic and keep changing, which again, is very distracting when trying to read.
Sad to say but it's getting frustrating already, and I just got here. If this is just how it is, I may not be spending as much time here as I was hoping to. :-(
Don't mean to whine, thanks for listening...

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Gotta pay the server bills. We burn enormous bandwidth and need to be able to keep the lights on.

I understand that, I truly do. Shame the ad companies have to be so greedy with what they force down our throats...
However I just installed the Adblock extension for FF, and wow - the ads are gone! What a relief; I really like this forum, but my eyes and my browser were not handling it well.
Thanks and here's to a speedy recovery Tom, wishing you the best! :-)
