Olympia to Seattle via Vashon Island or Route 302?

I will be ending my tour in Seattle this summer. I am leaving from Olympia/Lacy the last day. My first thought was to go via Vashon Island. The simple reason, I get to ride 2 ferries and I like incorporating ferries into my tour when I can.

I was going to stay in the Seattle area the night before my train leaves the next day for home. But I discovered a motel right on the bay in Port Orchard that looks like it might be an interesting place to stay. Been to Seattle a few times do no burning desire to stay in the city again.

From google maps, WA-302 looks kind of interesting. Has anyone done both WA-302 and the Vashon Island route? How do the two compare?

For one day? No.

I did find a report on the Tacoma Narrows route. Apparently there is a trail on the other side of the narrows much of the way. I have crossed that bridge by car a number of times. Should be interesting on a bicycle. Hard to believe there is a bike route there. From my distant memory, I seem to remember a huge mishmash of very busy roads on the south side. I do seem to remember a very pretty road once crossing the bridge.

I wasn't planning on going all the way to Tacoma. I was going to cross at Rushton on the ferry.
