Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

give me a couple days. i gotta get pictures from unofficial race photographer laura, and from HAUS!, and from stacey who was the steel point checkpoint person.

for now, results...

1. luke (nyc)
2. rich (new haven)
3. john (bridgeport)
...who decided to count themselves as one, since they rode most of the way together, and put the prize money toward the bar tab...
4. colin (new haven)
5. jesse (storrs)
6. eric (new haven)
7. aaron (who didn't do the checkpoints in order, due to getting lost, flatting, while managing to work one of his cranks loose...)
8. brian (bridgeport, dead ****in' last, except for...)
9. drew (who didn't really finish cause he flatted after the first checkpoint, and proceeded to the finish line via bus, bike, and walking, but was a super trooper cause it was his first alleycat)

the rain only discouraged the weak. bridgeport welcomes the strong. and i, for one, was really ****in' glad to have a crew of people to ride across town with, even though i had to drop them off at the train station.

(it was a mother****er, particularly the 4 miles uphill to the first checkpoint...)

Just some staging and finish photos. I was too busy trying to keep my manifest from disintegrating in the wet.

Jesse is not from New Haven, he is from Storrs. FYI. It is funny that he was racing with some people I used to ride with in New Haven, and I will be racing this tusday with people he used to ride with in Salt Lake City. Oh the irony is killing me.
