12mm through axle tapered disc fork, not many choices

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

12mm through axle tapered disc fork, not many choices

I’m building a couple of titanium disc bikes up. I have the frames (2 Wittson Illuminati’s) and one Columbus Futura fork. My frames require tapered 1.125”/1.5” steer tube and I prefer 12mm through axle to match the rear 12mm through axle.

I bought the Columbus Futura for about $300 and am preparing to lay out the cash for the next one.

But I thought I should check in with others to get a few ideas on what else is out there. I would think now that most new road bikes are coming standard with discs, tapered forks and through axles - that there would be much more availability of affordable options in forks. They all appear to be made in China. There are ones under $100 (Hylix?) all over the place then there a few I see in addition to the Columbus Futura such a one Tom Ritchey, a Whisky #7, and offerings from ENVE. All of these seem to be premium offerings retailing for $350 on up.

So, if you will... could you steer me (pun intended) to some decent disc fork options?

All those ones you listed are decent options. My preference is for the enve but you should check the trail numbers to match your frame

Thanks. I don’t quite understand “trail”. I notice that the Columbus Futura comes in either a 45 rake or a 43 rake. I’m not sure which would be better for me.

Thanks for the link. I messaged the seller to inquire about the dimensions of the steer tube to see if it would meet my needs. It doesn’t give quite enough info..but hopefully I’ll find out. It looks a bit like a clunker. One nice thing about the Columbus Futura is the light weight of it.

Keep the the links coming...

Dedaccai is another option that comes to mind.

Why do you need a 1.125-1.5 taper? You could also put in a 1.125-1.25 as well with a different headset. That might open up some options.

My frame has a tapered head tube that takes the 1-1/8”, 1-1/2” size steerer. I would prefer to use the proper parts with the recommended Cane Creek headset.

Match what is supplied with the original fork or ask them for a recommendation. Trail is a combination of rake and head tube angle
