Anti-Car Gone Too Far

The following story appeared in Sunday's Chicago Tribune:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...,4570734.story

What isn't mentioned in the article is the apparent motivation behind the killing. Tobolski and Scanlon, both bicyclists and environmental advocates, were acquainted with one another. Allegedly Tobolski observed Scanlon driving a car. Tobolski later confronted him about it which led to an arguement and ultimately the fatal stabbing of Scanlon.

So? All that tells me is Tobolski has a screw loose.

pro-car gone too far:

https://www.charlotte.com/breaking_ne...ry/675280.html

apparently this man wanted a car so badly he threatened a driver with a "semi-automatic handgun" and "took [the] vehicle by force"!

of course car jackings happen every day and no one really seems to pay a lot of attention. when two anti-car people get into a fatal altercation it's a big deal. when two pro-car people do the same it's just business as usual.

Needless to say, if there was a "Loose Screw" forum this post would have ended up there.

That's precisely why I posted it. There's also quite a difference between an armed robbery and murdering someone over environmental beliefs.

Then there should be a long list of obituaries for you to link to, right?

"all the time" yikes, you must be much better informed than the rest of us! I would truly appreciate it if you could get me even just one link to a news report of people actually dieing.

The Earth Liberation Front (ELF) are truly evil - I even read that some of the failed property businesses in the North West have burned down their unsold developments to claim on insurance after making it look like the ELF did it. But you and I know that it was really the ELF doing a double-bluff.

Yes, when people kill each other over greed during a theft gone bad it's not news.

When people kill each other over idealism it's news.

It's a conspiracy!
