Murray 26 ladie's bike....26" Wald rims......"S"?..........just curious

I am cleaning up an old Murray bike for a friend. It has 26" Wald wheels. There is an "S" stamped on the rim; what does this mean??

The hub is Wald...the rim? Maybe is stands for Steel I don't know if Wald ever made rims.
