Cateye BM-45 mirror. Never thought I'd be so stoked about putting a mirror on a road bike but this inexpensive, lightweight, small mirror works amazingly well for keeping an eye out behind you and doesn't look ridiculous or get in the way. Getting another one for both bikes now.

In NYC, we have lots of one-way streets, and the bike lanes are on the left side. The NYC cycling handbook says that if there is no bike lane, they recommend riding on the left side of one-way streets, as that's where drivers expect us. I wear my mirror on the left side out of habit but am thinking of moving it to the right side. That will be an adjustment for me.

hmm.. while I know what you're talking about re: bike lanes on avenues being on the left, most 1-way streets are the numbered streets, and most do not have bike lanes, and my experience is that most bike riders keep to the right on most streets that don't have bike lanes. So.. not sure about the advice proposed by the 'handbook'. Also, these days there are so many out-of-town license plates, we can't know what those drivers 'expect'.

Well, it's a small point that really doesn't matter. But if you do a lot of riding on the left side, a mirror on the right makes some sense.

I ride on the left on narrow gravel roads. Motorists can more easily gauge the distance between bike and car that way. Most motorists on narrow gravel roads won't even pass when I'm on the right but will as soon as I move to the left.

Specialized took all their 2019 gloves off their site already (wtf...) so I had to run to the store to grab a pair of these:




And because this particular LBS almost never has what you want in stock, I had to order the long finger version, but with shipping in 7-10 days, I'm pretty sure they are going to call me one day about 10 days from now and be like "durrrr they are actually out of stock because our online inventory system sucks today, sucked yesterday, and will continue to suck and be inaccurate." As it was I had to go to two stores just to get the short finger version because once again, the online inventory system was wrong.



For whatever reason, the white stuff on the wrist strap is dark gray in real life. I couldn't care less either way, but I always wonder how a product ends up looking different in real life than in the pictures of it online? Must've been a last minute materials change.

Anyway, I'm hoping I'm not left pissing into the wind with the long finger ones, and that they actually do show up. I think last time something was supposed to ship in X days from that LBS chain, it never did.

New bars/stem. Needed something rated for clip-on aero bars, went with Bontrager Elite Aeros, they cleaned up the cables a bit and the -17 stem made them level. Looking forward to fitting the aero bars and getting used to them for my next TT.

Finally broke down and ordered a Brooks saddle. After a lot of research I knew I wanted the Swallow, and I ended up ordering the Copper 150th LTD Edition just because it looks bad-ass. I've never owned a Brooks, or any other leather saddle for that matter, but I'm tired of suffering! I hope the Brooks lives up to it's reputation. Scheduled to arrive tomorrow... Rain in the forecast for the next several days, so it looks like I'll do initial testing on the rollers.

Looks like a retroreflective surface, gray in normal light but bright white when illuminated directly (for example, from a flash when taking a photo).

This was a limited run paint Wilier did in 2017/2018 I believe. This very bike/color was ridden in TDF by Sylvain Chavanel. They're doing it again this year, little different, with a like black chrome this time around.

Thanks. Yes, carbon frame and fork. This is a $1,000 color option to what was already pricey frame. I bought this used in a local cash + barter arrangement and was able to make this happen . The gentleman had acquired it used( built once) via Ebay , taking a gamble as he was short of the 54cm fit. He rides 52s, I ride 54 (550 tt with 100mm stems) and this was a 540 tt w/110mm stem. Hes an older guy with quite a collection, he came to terms he just couldn't do full stretch race position required to keep it and enjoy it.

This is their 'Ramato' finish, Wilier had done this copper finish in their 1940s-1980's steel frames , winning the 1948 Giro D'Italia in one of them and the finish went on to become synonymous with the company's legacy. So for their 110th year anniversary , Wilier both created the Cento10Air and in 2017 brought back the finish as an option on it, they made a limited run of the classic steel frames , and offered the finish on the Jaroon steel gravel bike.



Luckily I was in a position to make a deal and the seller was willing to meet and work with me. I drove to pick it up 4 miles from my house where his sister resided . I still cant believe it.
