That's a cool bike! Set up pretty similar to my Nature Boy, except I have disc brakes. Have you actually tried any SSCX races, or think you will?

It wasn't too long back I snagged this steel Langster off ebay. I used to brouse pink bike and drool over one of these.
Its been built for awhile now and its about too fun. 46x17 with 25's, set back post and some flats with straps. I love this thing😃

I built this bike for my wife last year in the hope that bicycling would be something we could do together. I was pretty proud of it but unfortunately my hopes were in vain. Due to her antipathy towards riding and my whining about giving up my beloved Bianchi mountain bike to make room in our place - she regifted it to me the other day. Now I have to decide what I want to do with it

This is my first handmade Single Speed project. A Merida Extreme 900 from the early 90s.
The bike had a 52/42T crank so I removed the biggest. Using 42/18T as normal and a 16t to more flat rides, because it's very hilly here in Norway The brake handles are from a CX bike.
It's not finished yet, I have used part of the back derailleur as a chain tensioner and it works quite good (I rode 30km the last day with no problems). I will a real chain tensioner soon, as well as spacers (used part of the cassette as spacers..), and a higher black stem.
The bike looks good anyway XD

At first I was like that's not a single speed! Then I noticed you removed your shifters. However I would keep some shifters on it and use it as a road bike in the current configuration you only need one and you have a downtube boss so you could mount a shifter quite easily without mussing anything and for pretty cheaply. I just don't like seeing gears going to waste. One should have a single speed or fixed gear or two or three or four or five or more but if the bike has gears make use of them or get rid of them.
It is a cool looking bike though!

ahhhh, I see, clever. I Just recently took off a pair of hold fast straps and switched to cages... but they seem to hold shape pretty well. I'm sure given enough time they'd start to get floppy though. I thought about fishing bailing wire through the material to create a sort of skeleton if they ever do

My 2016 Cannondale Cujo 2 converted to single speed. Im running a 36x22 gear. Tried to run it as a 2x10 geared setup to "get in the mainstream" and it didnt work for me. Bike is much, much better now. Rock Shox Recon fork, Tektro Auriga brakes, WTB Ranger 27.5+ tires. Been a singlespeed rider only for many years, probably why having a traditional geared bike felt unnatural
