Anyone here has a bike named after an animal?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I own a Kestrel and a Diamond Back road bike, both are named after animal. This is weird.

No, but mine's named after a submarine. A differant animal all together.

Does that count?

Perhaps. However, it's nice to have a bike that's named after something that is relatively neutral, like an animal or a tree or an object. My favorite name brand is Blue..evokes a feeling of tranquility and such.

A "motobecane" is a beaver with a mean temper.

Funny, but : Motobécane was a French manufacturer of bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, and other small vehicles, established in 1923. "Motobécane" is a compound word made up of two colloquialisms stuck together. "Moto" is a slang word for motorcycle; "bécane" is slang for "bike."

I have a Calfee Tetra, and a "tetra" is (according to the American Heritage Dictionary):

Any of numerous small colorful tropical freshwater fish of the family Characidae, such as the neon tetra, found in South America and Africa, and often kept in home aquariums

Ibis Titanium Road. Named after a flightless bird.

How poignantly appropriate for Pcad.

Mine's named after a Bible verse. Those who know me well appreciate the irony.

Yeah, a Cannondale is a land mammel that eats other animals including Cervelo's, Litespeeds, Treks, Specializeds and others. Preyed on by BMC's but often is able to elude them.

"F4:13" is apparently on a lot of fans' signs at sporting events in Europe. It's Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength."

There's no irony in the verse, really, just that I'm not a particularly big fan or organized religion. I'm definitely in the C&E churchgoing crowd. Gotta keep the grandparents happy.

"Him" is kind of vague anyway... maybe it's referring to Jan!

I have a Diamond Back, Centurion, that I have ridden since '98. I just purchased a Kestrel Talon, waiting for shipment. How do you like the Kestrel?
