Even though I love'em,

I find nuts to be 'choke' food for riding, so just about anything but

Nature Valley crunchy oatmeal bars seem to release blood sugar nice and evenly.

Small, non-melting. Easily stowed wrapper.

Anything with electrolytes--dates, bananas, potatoes, pickle juice, etc. I like rice and peanut butter--not necessarily together. A couple tablespoons of peanut butter is a quick way to get lots of potential energy into your system without making a big production out of it.

Yes, the crunchy peanut buter are my all time favorites. Nutri-grain bars are also great too. Gu gels also work well for a quick shot of energy.

Ah, watered down pickle juice. Forgot about that. Great way to drink in the heat without diluting yourself. I love pickle juice...

So smart guys, what's a good, lightweight and calorie neutral food to eat with lots of water on a hot day?

It isn't exactly my best choice of words. Something not high in calories and that has a slow release. I don't like one burst of energy.

Plus I'm trying to have a safe but high caloric deficit at the end of every day. Once I get down to a reasonable weight I'll focus more on replacing what calories I us.
