13 is unlucky. Might as well ride under a ladder in front of a black cat.

I think the prices are INSANE for these groups...…. For what these are you could go electronic on a standard.....

I have a bike with a 2x10 drivetrain. I just got new wheels for it with the wrong kind of hub. It has a 7-speed freewheel. I tried them just to see if I want to go ahead with my 650B conversion. Well, I do like it, so I will keep the rims and tires. My plan was to rebuild the drivetrain so I have 8 or 9 speeds in the back. And I notice that even though the shifting is wonky, I'm perfectly fine with having only 7 speeds in back.

13 is already obsolete...years ago.
Nuvinci has an infinite number of gears. Pair that with a compact double & you have double infinity.

I think I need to go for a ride on my fixie. I would like to know what hydraulic shifting feels like and how you set it up.

Not sure "obsolete" means what you think it means. ( not to be taken too seriously.)

Imo, anything more than 2 x 10 is "obsolete" ... added expense and about zero benefit. Id much rater have electronic shifting and hydro brakes than more cogs.

I have worked with the crew at Rotor for a few years now. We had a lot of good talks with them at CABDA about this group and the wheel needs. I am looking forward to working with them on some of their wheel needs for this group.
I honestly feel there is a lot of potential for the group in cross/gravel/adventure and offroad scenarios. Electronic and traditional cable systems have advantages and disadvantages in a lot of scenarios. This system is no different. This particular group has the ability to shine in conditions that some of the others just barely survive in.
We can debate it all day but time will tell. All this being said I don't have one of the groups in my hand and haven't ridden on it. It's a steep hill for them to climb if they want general market acceptance, but I loudly applaud their efforts to help make sure we aren't always servants of our 3 component overlords.
