Well, I would have to plan for four days if I wanted to do a DK. 667 is a long day in the car. Then race prep, finalizing registration, etc. Then 20 hours on the bike. Then likely a rest day ( insert laundry here) . Then return to Kenosha. Annnnd viola! There’s the answer to my conundrum. Thanks for asking!

I think frequent bike cleaning is the worst thing about riding gravel.

I try to ride three times a week, and often early in the morning before work. I'm primarily getting limestone dust on my bike, whether it's dry or wet. But I have trouble cleaning it more than once a week, so just deal with a dirty bike on many rides. Sometimes I just let it sit and ride the road bike that day.

Cleaning regimen includes a bucket, car washing sponge, mild dish soap, and a garden hose with a shower attachment. I also have a bunch of brushes to get in to the drive train. Every now and then I take everything apart and do a deeper clean/lube/tuneup.

Our bikes are stored indoors in the spare bedroom. Dirt and mud on the tires means the bike gets hosed off and wiped down before it comes in. Dust can wait forever.

Shorts get taken off and into the shower with me after a ride and are washed, rinsed and hung out to dry.
