Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

These wheels any good?

I have been thinking of getting some deep rims for raod racing and maybe for duathlon. I am currently riding 28mm front and 30mm rear, would there be any point in buying these? Slightly more aero and lighter and fitted with faster tyres I know they would be good. But should I just save my money for some DEEP rims like the 58mm American Classics?

TIA

Brendon

hmmm....

I kinda like those. $633 USD. Not too bad. A little on the heavy side for the money. However, they are very aero at 38mm, so that is a plus. I don't really know how much of a differance they will produce over what you are using now. Technically they will give you a slightly better time on TT's or in a race, but whether it's worth the money, is up to you.

I know American Classic 420's are 34mm, and a bit lighter around 1450g or so. Also a little less expensive. Not sure if they're available in NZ though.

yes, the 420's - the AMs have just become available here in NZ for probably a bit less..... I too thought that the TOKENs were a little on the heavy side :@

but they are more aero *sighs*

I have never riden these wheels but the company is quite good. I have talked the the owner (a former pro racer) in the past and the company sounds like everything is in place.

Now for the rims, I could not tell you but I like the ones above a little better at the 50 mm side wall heigth.

Reviving this thread as I am curious about the quality of these wheels especially the tubular model, the T1. For the price, they're a bargain. Not as concerned about the weight, because they'd be lighter than my Campy Zonda clinchers anyways. Plus, I'm more interested in an aero wheelset. Anybody have or have tried these?
