Tour the U.S.A.
My wife and I took a Ferry last summer from our home state of Alaska, to Bellingham Washington. We then headed East for Virginia Beach. I’m 57 & my wife is 46. It took us 77 days to complete the trip of a lifetime. If you’ve ever thought about doing something like this, I strongly recommend it. I use to bicycle a little when in my twenties, but other then that I’m a full-on rookie. My wife is an ex college athlete, and I’m not trying to tell you it was easy, but most of it is “ guts & determination “. GO PREPARED! We met people all the way across the U.S. that took us into there homes! Now I can’t say that is normal but that was our experience. Talk about restoring my faith in the PEOPLE of this great country! YOU can do it too!

My tours always reaffirm this fact too. The interwebs can make you feel that the good people are outliers, when touring you find out the opposite is true.

Is there an All America route that includes Alaska? Including ferry of course. Seems like there should be.
Hawaii is a bit too far away to make it more inclusive.

I like it. I was originally thinking of just a Trans America Plus that included Alaska and Hawaii, but the 50 state route is cool. Part of the point is to not need a passport

If you want Alaska you have go through Canada. I think you need at least a Passport card.

I mapped out a route, long compared to what I know is possible now, for the entire lower 48 several years back that was around 7500 miles...and to think I did an 8500 mile trip back in 2015 and never made into any state in/west of the Rockies. Granted I was trying to hit state capitols not go for the shortest distance.

I was looking at the ferry website, It looks like you can go from Bellingham WA (near Seattle) to Whittier AK (near Anchorage) without getting off In Canada, so no passport required.

+ You Can board in Seattle, ride in Alaska , then get back on the boat , & go back to the lower 48 ..
Spring and Autumn, cruise liners transit the pacific coast , changing from winter in Tropical Seas , to Summer off the BC /AK coasts ..

Also worth noting, many border states and some others now offer "enhanced" drivers IDs that allow you land and sea border crossings. I've got one from Michigan, just so I can pop over to Windsor or Sarnia or teh Soo Canada without needing my passport.

Yes, there are ferries from Washington state that don't stop in Canandian ports before they land in Alaska.
