Fred robs bank

Amazing what you can find searching through google news. From KPRC Local 2 News in Houston:

"Investigators said the man rode up to the bank on a bicycle, went inside and approached a teller...The man showed the teller a note that demanded money and said he had a bomb, officials said...The man left the bank, got on his bicycle and rode away."

Description of the Suspect:
Detectives said the man is white, 50 to 55 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 to 200 pounds. He had long gray hair that was pulled back in a ponytail and a gray beard.

I have to assume he was riding a 70's steelie

Maybe it was Kinky Freedman getting money for his 2008 presidential campaign!

Were they wearing the world championship jersey, though, and were they *really* low-lifes?

A few miles south of where I work a bank was robbed twice by a guy on a bike. Rode off and disappeared in an apartment complex. And I think he only had a note as well.

It's too bad that law enforcement keeps preaching "leave it to us - don't try to be a hero". If they instead would give "how to be a hero class" and more people got involved, it would be a better world to be in. Too many people look the other way now days...

Discerning bank robbers know that when fleeing the scene in a hail of bullets nothing stands up to a few grazing shots or solid hits like a chromolly steel getaway bike.

The news reported today that a good samaritan was shot while trying to stop an old lady from getting robbed of her purse. Do you think the old lady would be nice enough to return the favor by paying for the good samaritan's medical pays? Probably not.

Did the old lady ask the good samaritan to help her? Have you ever priced a gunshot wound treatment at an ER? If you don't have medical insurance or a spare hundred grand in the bank it would behoove anyone to stay away from armed criminals.

Well apparently, if they were wearing the rainbow and did not earn it they were *real* low-lifes. "Yeah, dirty bastards."

Did the robber look like this?

Maybe he was short on cash after Christmas!
