Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I believe if you have "Strava Premium" you can see if you have any age-graded KOMs etc., I was joking with one of my friends who is 74 that next year he has a good shot at lots of 75+ trophies.

I'm aware that it exists but I rarely check the age or weight KOMs. Back in my low racer recumbent days many younger years ago, I owned a huge bunch of flat to downhill segments. Last time that I checked, I still hold one or two.

So, I need to go check fat old guy segments after today's ride.

Have fun with the old crumbs. I took my glorious, custom built, soulful, level top-tubed, veteran of undistinguished race performances, 10 kg, steel bike out with the local hooligans this morning and stayed with them for almost half the short route. I am loath to part with my beautiful rolling excuse.

Broke a spoke on the group ride last night. Will have to track one down at an LBS to be ready for the weekend.

Heal up.

The guy next to you is a glimpse into your (possible) future.

We accused our ride leader of getting those shorts at a Richard Simmons yard sale.

He got kudos for perfectly matching the shorts to the jersey.

Not the bike, the excuse! I would never part with that bike. It really is beautiful and I'm still close friends with the builder, who, I'm sure, expects me to be buried with it. Maybe on it.
