Cool bikes. I almost picked up a Santana today but failed. It was hours away but I was passing by on another matter. Had a call from the seller this morning and told her I'd call back on my way home to get the address. It came time to call her and the number showed up on my phone log as 'unavailable' even though I distinctly remember her number being displayed when the call came in. Aargh. Shot her an email but no reply; had to come home empty handed. Sorry for the OT rant.

I think every tandem I saw with toe clips had the peadl tied like that.

Wow, great collection. CdM wins the competition for most number of colors plus chainrings. PG's Bilenky is fabulous of course, and nicely raises the bar. Triples? Two of 'em! A bunch of French tandems. Great other ones too.
3R6S, nice to see you got yours on the road!
Bianchigirll, I've found an easy way to bring a tandem up and down stairs. Point it uphill. Facing the bike grab the front wheel with one hand and a brake lever with the other. You then lift the front wheel and pull it up a few steps, then squeeze the brakes to let you step backwards up another step or two. You can lower it downstairs the same way, rear wheel downward, one hand holding the front wheel, the other hand on a brake lever. Of course you still have to negotiate whatever turns exist at the top or bottom.
Now I'll place the bar somewhere it the middle, '82 Peugeot:
The brakes are the original Mafac cantis, the derailleurs are Simplex, the front crank and pedals are original, the rear hub is the original Atom.
Here's a shot of two vintage tandems (PG's and ours) and a much new tandem, on a three-tandem ride this summer:

Deeply loved Bob Jackson from about 1980. My wife & I start our mornings with a 1/2 hour ride on it.

Very nice tandem, aixaix. I'd love to see some larger pictures of that bike. I know you were thinking about bringing it to LI for the ride back in July. I reckon I'll be seeing you at the Philly Bike Expo next weekend. I'm signed up for the entire weekend's activities.

Hi Blair,
My Jackson's toe clips also clear the tire, but not the fender. However, that hasn't been a problem since I repositioned the front fender stay downward. More photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/28164070@N04/
I'll be at the Philly Expo as well, and look forward to seeing you there.

I got busy on building up this Gitane on Saturday. Lanie and I took it for a stroll yesterday to sort out the bugs (mostly my lack of leadership) and made a few mechanical adjustments along the way. The Huret eco duopar is one awesome derailleur in my opinion. It looks like it could take a 36T or larger cog.
We worked well together, the three of us.

Some people would say the Pasela is "low end", and by now on a vintage bike the tires are guaranteed to be replacement!
But I was curious about width. We are running Pasela TG's 32mm on our Peugeot and have been very happy with them. Not sure I could feel any difference with something else. But over in the tandem forum the opinions are all over the map about tires. Just as they are here in C&V. I guess that's a universal feature.

Thanks! It is a very pretty color and the paint is in excellent shape. I have one with some Ti bits also. Just not a nice one. I haven't seen many mixte rear frames. It has a nice look.

Nice stuff here. Here's my 150 pounds of shameless gaspipe (that's less that 10 pounds per linear foot). I just posted a thread on them here;

What happened to the drive crank? The arm snapped off?

I almost got my Motobecane tandem on the road today,
One thing I noticed and wish to ask about.
I cut half the horns off and flipped the rear drops in the fashion of what I saw in pictures shown on the forum,
I quickly noted they rub on me legs.
is this normal? or do I need to get some really wide bars for the rear?
