I Rode My First Century
Hey all. After taking up cycling about 8 weeks ago I was able to enter and complete a century ride today. I am pretty stoked. I rode to the ride start and then completed the 104 mile course of the Wabash River Cycle Club ride. I did 114 miles total at an average speed of 16.1 mph. The ride itself from start to finish took about 7 hours with 6.5 or so in the saddle.
I am sore, tired and am going to bed

Good job RL, impressive after only 8 weeks. I had been riding at least 2-3 years before I did my first century. I also obtained a first this weekend, first(and likely last) non stop century. Did the hotter'n hell hundred in Wichita Falls Tx, which fortunately this weekend failed to live up to its name. It was 84 degrees at the finish- usually hotter than that at the start.

You must really be in great shape to begin with, I estimate it takes normal people atleast a year to even think of riding 100 miles. I am one of those people. I think I can do it, but I need the proper equipment and the motivation, which I already have. Great job dude, 8 weeks too. Thats very impressive and very good time too.

It was pretty rough at mile 75 or so. I never questioned if I would finish but I did question if I could keep up the pace I was on. I was in pretty good shape when I started cycling so that helped. Right now I feel pretty good, my knees and one elbow are a bit sore. But I did make it into work today.

It does not look like they have the elevation profile up on the site. There were enough hills to get your attention for sure but it was mostly flat. I mean, it is Indiana.
All in all I am pretty damned proud of myself

I cannot imagine a non stop century. That is impressive as hell.
