I've seen people ask more money or for worse examples. Kind of tempted actually.

The Marin Museum of Bicycling/Mountain Bike Hall of Fame gets a lot of donations of classic bikes. Some are duplicates, some are not useful for display, so they are sold to help cover the cost of operating the museum.

If you are talking about the dent in the chain stay, I think it is supposed to be there so the crank doesn't hit the thicker tubes.

Miyata 610, which in my opinion was a better bike than the Trek 720 of the same era, the 610 was lighter, stiffer, and stronger: https://southbend.craigslist.org/bik/5935417190.html

I agree. Given the way the camera is situated with the other fork leg and the shadow, it might not be bent. However, if it looked like that at a different angle, I would say it's bent.

Do I look like a rookie?

Top tube: 3/4's of the way to the seat tube, drive side. It's not that big, but it's a dent and that diminishes the value substantially.

Well of course you are entitled to your opinion! But you are somewhat mistaken. While both the Miyata and the Trek changed in the mid 80's, the Miyata six-ten changed more. The early version (like this) was far inferior to the later one (the later version has cantilever brakes, forged crank, triple butted tubing, &c) while the early Trek 720 was not much different from the later one (the only significant difference being caliper vs cantilever brakes). This bike is the early version and nothing special. The later six-ten is much better.

Admittedly the 720, either version, was an odd duck. Very well suited to some riders, not so well to other (heavier) ones.
