My latest find... this 1983 AR-6000 Aero. It needs some TLC (eventual repaint and decals) an original AX RD to replace the Suntour GPX one that is on there now, and an Ariake Nu Buck Aero seat in black suede (that should be fun to find!)

Those were pretty nice rides. Saw yours on Bicycle Trader... it is a 1985 rather than an '83. I saw a mint one at a garage sale several years ago for $50 but was a fool and passed on it. I wasn't really into Panasonic "collector mode" yet at that point... doh

Darin,

Nice score

The frame looks a lot like a Jan Janssen Aero I've had. That was made in Jp too, with Tange tubing. Who knows? I remember the JJ's lugs look a little more crude. Maybe from same factory, but more attention to detail/filing for the Panasonic?

Why repainting? From the pics you show us I would think a little touch up with pearl white enamel should do it.

That seat: I do have it on my Pro Am. Araike was the seat of choice on several mid range and high end Kogas. Mostly the Jaguar II model, but maybe the Aero model is also quite well represented on the 2nd hand bike/part market overhere. Will keep an eye out.

I spotted the bike on your virtual museum site too. Saw your looking for a couple more parts. I think most should be solvable.

The DX-3000 is looking good. I still think '86 was my favorite year for the DX3.

From the photos I realize the paint doesn't look too bad. In reality it has lots and lots of scratches etc. I'm going to try touching it up and wet sanding it a bit but ultimately a repaint is what this one needs to be really nice. Finding the bright pearl white paint may be tricky these days. Early 90's Audi pearl white is very close but since 95 or so pearl has gotten more of a cream tint to it.

I have a Panasonic Villager that my brother found in a dumpster at work several years ago. I cleaned it up and rode it for a while, but it's much too small for me. Was thinking about selling it or giving it to a friend who it might fit. Old style suicide levers and front freewheel are the most notable things I see about it. The front freewheel is pretty cool, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to deal with fixing it someday.

Anyone have an idea how much these are worth?

Saw this one on CL for $50, called and offered $100 just to be sure. I've been looking for a Panansonic for a while, glad one popped up that was:
A. My size
B. Towards the top of the line up
C. Not Miami Vice themed
Better photos after she gets a bath and some new clothes(hoods/tape).

Found this on local CL for $100. Looks like a pre-83 DX-2000. I can't pinpoint it exactly in the catalogs. Hell of a deal.

1987 DX-4000 with 105, got the trainer with it(not much use here in TX). Probably put it up on the Bay and see if I can recoup a little dough. Anyone tried to repair a tear in these white saddles with any of those leather/vinyl repair kits? Any pointers appreciated.

Ah, so it is. Hard to tell with digital pictures w/o the model visible; the teal looks like the darker blue and vice versa. You'll enjoy it, man. These bikes are terribly underrated.

I don't know about repairing the saddle. I just got a nasty gouge in mine after some jackass pulled out in front of me and I took a spill.

My wife has a 1985 Panasonic Sport LX Mixte 17.5" frame in Adriatic Blue, although it looks like lavender. I don't have any photos of it, as it has been hanging out in the barn for 18 years at this house, and 5 years at the house before. Still looks like new, because we had to move shortly after she bought it, and she never road it again.

I have a DX-2000 hanging in my garage that I haven't riden in years. I bent the top and down tubes hitting a concrete parking stop, those things that stop you when you park at the grocery store.

I had a bike shop fix it but it has never been the same. I have often wondered if it could be fixed and repainted.

I now ride a carbon fiber Calfee but the Panasonic was the first bike I ever bought and would love to have it back in it's original condition, if it wasn't too expensive.

Sorry this is kind of an older post, but do you have any more pictures of this bike rocco? Is there a cantilever brake mounted under the chainstays?

This is what the rear brake setup typically looked like on the Panasonic mountain bikes of the era... (from my '88 MC-5500)

Couple pictures of the Sport LX that I beat around town on. It's nothing fancy, but it rides pretty nice.

I know how ugly the weird stem is (it's too high in these photos too), but the frame is a little too small for me and makes it ride-able.

I've been keeping a look out for a nicer Panasonic, someday I'll find one.

That's really weird. Is there any practical advantage to this setup? Does it work ok?

Here's my National/Panasonic Sport from 1982 if I recall correctly. High tensile and low end components (steel sugino cranks, steel araya rims etc.), great winter bike though.
