Vintage Peugeot
Good Afternoon,
I recently bought a Peugeot bike. My first cycling bike as well. Im trying to figure out the year and model and have searched alot of catalogs. I cannot seem to find any information. Help please? Ill attach a photo.
The details I have are:
Simplex gear changer
Atax Stem
Tube Special 103
Peugeot S Crank
Peugeot Rear Derailleur
Suntour 7 Front Derailleur
Weinnman Brakes
And it does say course on the top tube in cursive.
If you could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Early 1980s UO-8 successor (UO-10?), i.e., basic entry-level road bike, better than many of its competitors. SunTour front derailleur is aftermarket upgrade. The aluminum cranks were a nice improvement over the UO-8's cottered steel cranks.

Still learning
It's probably the 1982 U09. The FD may have been replaced on yours, since the OEM Simplex are known for cracking. Also, it is the first year for cotterless cranks and that style of wheel reflector.

It could be an 80 or 81 UO8 too, because your bike doesnt have a 1/2 chrome front fork like the 1982, but possible the reflectors changed during production.

Looks to maybe be the model above a P8. From maybe 1982....
Could actually be called the "Course" as the script on the top tube indicted, but more likely called the UO9 as oddjob noted as Peugeot was really into the alpha-numeric bike naming thing with their bikes as far as most can remember. I think this model might have been replaced by the PH10S in 83. Full French drivetrain gives it that French flavor, at affordable at an entry level price, but the best thing about these very affordable Peugeot is the great ride their frames provided, better than many more expensive models from other manufacturers at that time......

An excellent entry level sport/light tour bike from Peugeot.
Congratulations on the very nice acquisition.
It looks to be in very good, original condition, down to the very appropriate "grab-on" foam grips from the period. The label on it isn't even worn off!

Does anyone have a Peugeot model evolution timeline handy? I know my A/UO8s, UO18s, and PA/PR/PX10s from my bike shop days in the early 1970s, and I owned a 1980 PKN-10, but I lost track of Peugeot evolution in the late 1970s and beyond.
