Riding outside is cancelled here today due to high winds (30+ sustained) and smoke from a fire causing visibility issues (the fire is about a two hour drive NW of me.

Thanks, I just thought about this. Had to bug out of California for a break, been here in the Boise area the last few weeks, not in my normal mode. Been getting some rides in here, in between smoke, heat and wind. Rode out to Emmett today, got home just as the strong winds came up!

On the train from Philly to Pittsburgh. Starting my ride home to Philly tomorrow. Going to keep the mileage manageable. Aside for the first day (on the GAP) and the last day, days will be in the 40s, with one in the upper 30s. But there are some hills.
Day 4 is 47 miles with 3,500’ of climbing and a ruling grade of 10.1% just before camp. Day 5 will take me along an 8.5 mile stretch of abandoned PA Turnpike. There are two unlit tunnels. About 10,000’ total. The easterly one is over a mile long and has a crown closer to the east portal, so when you enter you literally cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Smoke free outside, but windy... I rode anyway.... simulated hills by fighting the wind
12 miles with over half being against a headwind... but smoke free outside so I took advantage of that. Blood Pressure right now is 117 / 76

Another ride today. Weather was perfect, but my right knee (outside knee) was talking so I cut the ride short.

Non omnino gravis
Pretty clear and quite cool this morning, so the river trail got its first real turnout of the season-- they were out in droves today. You know, them. Saddles way down with knees flared out wide, the shoelaces on their white tennys flapping in the wind. Every pedal stroke results in the front wheel jogging at minimum 6 inches to one side then the other. Many were weaving +3 feet, either incapable or unwilling to maintain a straight line. In between the weaving, the wobbling-- oh, such wobbling! Those coming from the opposite direction are at minimum two wide-- which combined with the weaving, takes up every inch of the trail's width. It was a bit like playing Frogger. Some days, it is genuinely safer out on the roads with the cars.
When a person on a hardtail MTB rides right down the centerline of the trail with their 800mm bars, they're pretty much impossible to pass.

Some photos from my 9-day, 440 mile tour from Pittsburgh to Philly that ended a week ago yesterday. The house was Buffalo Bill’s in The Silence of the Lambs. At some point I’ll put together a Flikr album.

Mt Whitney hike got canceled from cali fires and smoke. Off to a different state! Visited a good friend in Salt Lake City, did a hike at Zion National Park via Angel's Landing. Then visited my mom in Las Vegas before heading home. All places still had smoke from Cali. Salt Lake and Vegas was the worst. It was my first time going to Zion and would love to go again.

It's actually a cool looking property. One big drawback to the place is that is literally up against a very busy rail line. And there is a grade crossing close by where I suspect the trains blow their horns. It also has only one bathroom. Another article I read suggests it would make a great AirBNB property. Not so sure about that from an investment perspective.
