One of my car-buddies has a stepson out in Oregon -- after marijuana was legalized out there, many thousands of stoners are on the roads, so watch out! My buddy will NOT be going back!

Hell yeah dude.

Only 2 years touring, mostly country roads through small towns, but KwikTrip/KwikStar and Casey's are always a stop for chocolate milk, doughnuts, or something more substantial, depending on time of day.

Neither does Montana--almost. From what I recall, there are a couple of heavily touristed areas that have a 1% sales tax. One example is the Whitefish area, which is close to Glacier National Park. The money collected is spent on infrastructure improvement/maintenance to support traffic resulting from tourism.

Delaware also has no sales tax. It's so odd picking something off the shelf and being charged the price marked on the item.

There's the real issue. It's not so much that I'm against sales taxes, especially if they support schools or roads or something useful. I just hate having to "figure" in my head, if I'm close on the full price, with whatever money I have on hand. Or dig out a calculator or smartphone.🙄 Why can't they add the tax to the price, and have THAT amount marked, as the full price? To me, that's the most sensible approach.

Hey, I don't remember this guy. --->☠️
Must be new, since iOS 13 and it's updates. 😁😉

Just tell your car-buddy, they need to stay stoned too. That way, all those crazy people seem "normal". 😁😉

Other long-gone gas station brands here in the southern Great Lakes -- Pure, Sohio/Boron (now BP), I remember Conoco, Hudson, Ashland,... I haven't seen a Texaco around here in ages, or an Exxon (or Mobil)...
And back onto one of the original topics, lol, I bought this can of heavy grease recently, at a yard sale. 😁 I'm pretty sure Ashland was the main gas station near my grandparent's farm, back in PA, when I was a kid. 🙂
BTW, heavy grease refers to the viscosity, or thickness, of the grease. Heavy is very thick, so better in the desert. 👍 I repacked my front hub with it this morning. Seems great, so far. 😎

Very labor intensive if not everything is subject to tax. Take a grocery store. In PA, prepared foods (e.g., roasted chicken, sandwiches) are subject to sales tax. Uncooked foods are not. There is also a separate tax on sweetened beverages. It's easier to simply program the register to know what is and isn't.
