56 on my mountain bike on a downhill in Laguna Beach Ca, 25 years ago, until I couldn't hold it in the corner any more and didn't want to be a hood ornament on the white Acura coming up the hill. Older and smarter now.

49 mph in relatively recent years on my only bike with a computer. My good bike has descended with strong tailwinds several times and certainly gone faster. Racing many years ago, our pace car was a local cop and he had to do 60 between curves to stay ahead of us descending Smuggler's Notch in Vermont. I am pretty sure I was close to 50 mph on my crazy fix gear rides up and down Joachim Miller above Oakland.

Im with Hypno - I get nervous, but im still not even a full year back into riding. Plus I dont really have any big long (safe, anyway) hills in my area. I went down a few on my MTB in some neighborhoods last summer, but between the traffic and children, they werent ideal. On the flats, my top speed on my road bike is right at 25mph. Its my first road bike and i just got her, so i havent really hit any real hills yet with her lol And i probably wont for awhile, not until im more comfortable on her. My average speed really improved with her when compared to my MTB I use to use on the streets though! I enjoy seeing that improve more than seeing my top speed improve.

56.xx according to my Garmin descending Starrett's gap in full tuck. Chin on the stem. The only time it pays to be on a bike and weigh over 200lbs...

58.7 mph, going downhill in the mountains near Delta, Colorado on a Santana tandem with my daughter, with a BOB trailer behind, in 1998. It was on a newly resurfaced, well engineered 4 lane section of highway. I was hoping to pop 60 mph, but it didn't happen.

47.2 according to Strava. It was on a fairly gentle downhill, but it was long enough I was able to get into the serious gears fairly easily and the pavement was absolutely pristine.

38 on a fairly gentle downslope. A truck pulled out in front of me when I was going about 25, so I tailgated him, pedaling furiously. As he accelerated, he pulled me along. I didn't know I had gone that fast until I looked at strava. I had no idea!

My fastest was 51.1 mph on a downhill in the Ozarks riding my recumbent. And yes I am too old to be doing something that stupid!

41.6 on a long gentle downhill. I regularly top out over 40 on this hill but have not been able to hit 42 yet even spinning my legs as fast as they go. I did hit 30 on a long flat straight-away then I realized that I have to go back home into that wind.

45.9 mph one year ago coming out of the Davis Mountains on a Specialized AWOL.
Others have said they went faster through there, but I still have the KOM on that Strava segment to this day

44mph, on a Trek Domane 6.9. Probably about 40mph on a Schwinn Paramount. Same hill.
I have an advantage over most of you in the, ah, err, Avoirdupois department. Lot's of adipose (and some muscle) plus a light, rigid, stable bike and good wheels = lots of speed.
The downside is that the really big downhill near me, on which I probably could hit 47 or 48mph has only about 600-1000 feet at the bottom until I hit a stop sign at the dead leg of a junction, with the top of the T being a rural highway. If I ever really pushed it down that hill, I'd wear my brake pads completely off trying to stop all that lipid based counterweight.

I was going downhill north on the road that runs next to Mt Washington. Bunch of Harley style bikers were slowly passing me, and I gave it everything I had trying to keep up.
Didn't quite do it, but I was going pretty fast.

According to my Bontrager GoTime I hit 34-37mph every morning on Hwy 70S, decending "9 Mile Hill".
I was clocked by one of the radar speed warning signs at 31mph on a flat a couple years ago - on Diamondback Hybrid with fenders/racks.

Going down Independence Pass headed to Aspen I hit 62 mph on a Woodrup touring bike in the early 80's. At that point I never looked at it again until I hit Aspen. Sure enough 62 mph was my top speed. I spent 2 weeks touring Colorado and of all the passes I managed to get in, Independence was the fastest. NEVER AGAIN though!!

Assuming my then early 80's computer was correct I reached 58 mph (might have been a bit higher but that was the speed I happened to see when I glanced down at that particular time) without drafting going down Tramway in Palm Springs California on a non aero 84 Trek 660.
