Giant Sedona Or Trek 7000?

Newbie here and I am looking forward to buying either a Giant Sedona:

https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...ck/5690/36599/

or a Trek 7000:

https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...h/hybrid/7000/

and I'm wondering which is better. Given the listed specs (dérailleurs, frame, saddle, etc.) and the customer loyalty behind the company, which would be the better purchase?

Any other suggestions within the price range would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the Jamis Explorer 1 should get a look as well?

I would think the Trek 7000 would be the faster ride though.

I bought the Trek 7000 and I love it! It is more along the lines of an FX Trek as it has no front suspension, which was my preference. The front fork and seat stays have eyelets for pannier racks which is great if you plan to tour or commute with bags.

I just "upgraded" my 7000 to some lighter parts and replaced the suspension seatpost with an AL one and the steel handlebar/quill stem with an AL flat bar/threadless adaptor. That took a bunch of heavy components off the bike and should make for a more lively ride. I also upgraded from the stock saddle to a Respiro gel saddle.

Eventually I will replace the wheelset/tires and the shifters to rapid fire 8 or 9 speeds. This bike will contend with any flat bar road bike out there and look great doing so! The price was awesome and the upgrading is a lot of fun and I wind up with a customized ride that I hope will serve me for a long time.

I have to say that when I bought it I had these upgrades in mind. I did not like the frameset of the current FX bikes and the lack of 2 water bottle cage mounts. Plus I wanted to upgrade slowly as I had a bit of a financial limitation at the time of purchase and could not pass up the super deal I got on my bike.

I've had the Giant Sedona for a couple years and it suits me well. It's a good entry-level bike. As things wear out I will upgrade, i.e. grips, tires, bar ends, etc.

EsoxLucius:

Funny you'd say that, I was just browsing the Jamis and was about to ask which was better out of that and the Bianchi Cortina.

Jamis seems like it is a nice brand although Bianchi has the status so I am confused as to which may be the better buy.

Here are the new bikes I am comparing:

(Explorer 1, the others didn't have a nice color)

https://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebik...explorer1.html

and the Bianchi:

https://www.bianchiusa.com/bikes/cross-terrain/cortina/

The Bianchi offers more for a little hike in price but it looks like it will be worth the buy.

The Bianchi is a significantly different bike than the Jamis Explorer and Giant Sedona having different geometry, 700 tires and more gears. It looks like a good value if it fits you. It should be faster than all the others you have mentioned so far.
