Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Road bike rim size HELP

Hey guys I need help figuring out the rims for my specialized road bike. I bent the rear wheel and need a new one. I'm trying to search online but I can't understand sizes and whatnot. Mine reads "Alexrims S500 Double 6061H-T6 etrto 622x14".
Can anyone explain sizes and where I can find one? Thanks in advance

S500 double is the model and sounds double wall.
6061h-t6 means it's an aluminum rim
622x14 means it's a 700c rim that is 14mm wide.
Any 700c road rim can substitute that has the correct number of spoke holes though you'll need new spokes.
I suspect from your question you're looking for a whole wheel. How many speeds and freewheel or cassette needs to be known before making a recommendation.

Thanks for replying and yes a whole wheel. There are 9 on the cassette and 3 front so 27 speeds.

The first wheelset is a decent, basic replacement that should be fairly sturdy, it also has a slightly wider rim at 17mm that will make your tires perhaps ride a little better. The Shimano wheelset is a little better as is the mavic set, both are sportier though not high performance and are still used as everyday wheels. A good search of Amazon will turn up just an 8-10 speed wheel, 8-10 all use the same hub, with a decent wheel. I like my wheels to match though hence the sets.

My son wrecked and bent his rim on a 29'er. The local bike shop didn't charge but a handful of dollars more than I could have gotten the wheels online for myself. And I didn't have to get my hands dirty or wrack my brain trying to keep up with things like dropout spacing, rear or front hub, disc or rim brake, and all sorts of other gotcha's.

I have ordered wheels online for myself, twice. But I knew exactly what I wanted and what specs I needed. If you are not certain, make sure there is a generous return policy.

REI in my area has the Shimano wheelset you recommended. Thanks so much for the advice and help.

You're looking for road wheels - 700C rim brake.
