We've had to suffer through the low 60's this week, and one of the days we had wind too! I think I even saw a cloud one day. How are we supposed to ride in weather like this?

That’s sad. It’s a wonderful 45 and rain in NYC today. Tomorrow high in the 30s. Over two feet of snow coming to New England today.

I feel your pain.

I woke up to 35, and it's only going to hit 70 today. With those kind of temps, I may have to go to the gym and ride a spinning bike today.​​​​​​​

When lived in NYC I used to ride in temps were slush that splashed up from the road would freeze on my frame tubes. Living in Tucson now it has to be beautiful and sunny out before I go out and ride if it's below 50.

I have long fingered winter gloves, but would probably not ride if it was cold enough to wear them. I've become a wimp!

You must be mistaken, we have global warming.

I always look at the national temp map every morning. A day or so ago with my ride minimum of 65, there was no where in the US I could ride, not even Key West.

The 60s can be excruciating to deal with, believe me, because I lived through them. Drugs, sex and peace and love never slowed down my cycling though. Well, maybe a couple did.

Hang in there and you will make it through your miserable winter. (It was 63* in Seattle yesterday, a new unheard of record in December).

Are you saying there was nowhere in the US that was above 65 degrees as a high for the day?
Or at the arbitrary time you looked, it wasn't above 65 anywhere?

65 as a min riding temp must limit you to a 6 month riding window, and within that, only 3 would offer most days with temps high enough regardless of if you ride early or late.
Rough temp limit, sorry to hear you cant ride in anything less than 65.

New Mexico has had terrible weather this year: hotter than usual summer, and the past two weeks we're below freezing every morning, maybe getting up into the low 50's. It was 14F a few mornings ago.

I'm running a space heater in the garage and Zwifting and Rouvying. Got a brand new mountain bike just sitting, wanting to go outside.

The climate is always changing!

14,000 years ago, where I sit was buried under a mile of ice (glacially-scoured lower Great Lakes during the last Ice Age). Man did not cause the warming that caused that to melt.

Millions of years ago, Arizona was under water. Man didn't change that either!

150 years ago, the Krakatoa Eruption in Java caused a FIVE YEAR world-wide temperature drop of 2.2°F -- That is more temperature change than the climate alarmists are attributing to Man... and that was just ONE volcanic eruption...

To say that Modern Man has changed the climate is debatable. It depends on the model used. These same 'climate scientists' predicted that the poles would be ice-free by 2005. Wrong!

Snowing again today. Naturally, it has snowed more this Fall (not even winter yet!) than any in memory, and a) the ski resorts are heavily restricted due to COVID; and b) I have a bad leak in the roof. I even have money for a new roof, but again due to the spike in contagion now is not going to be the time that happens.

Super frustrating.

The mountain bike is nothing much - a Motobecane Fantom 2.5 from bikesdirect that I got as a 'kick around the neighborhood' bike. (It's very dirt road / gravel path / trail-ish where I live). It's seen a grand total of 1 ride for 4 quick miles. I had to adjust the derailleurs, and by the time that got done ... we're down to 20F most mornings and just poor weather generally. For a former ice climber and mountaineer, I've gotten decidedly soft when it comes to riding in the cold. Given how much fun I'm having on Rouvy and Zwift, and the time saved, I just wind up cranking it out on the trainer in the garage.

I really should post a pic, though.

I've had 3 rides on my CCM 3 sp in DEC. LOL. weeeeeeee Almost every day's been over freezing, up to 8C I think, a record 16C or so in the south. I need to look for mostly cleared sidewalks or busy roads.
I'm OK with 5C for an hour, wearing cap and my custom ear-muffs. Still using the metal spring hoop bought on $1.49 days in the 1960s. LOL. Plastic ones now are good for nuttin. I made good use of them in the China mountains in Feb. 2015. I did use the bigger ear covers off a new one and a cut up sock.
CO2 GloBULL warming is 97% a crock alright. The ALPS got 6 - 8 - 12 feet of snow this week. LOL. So did Morocco get 6". We had a cold Oct. again, very poor bike month. But the farmers had a great year, with a really wet June. Beautiful hottish July, Aug., Sept.
Actually, once or twice every 30 years we get a green Christmas. I remember it was in 1985 or so, then a -30F blizzard 5 days later. Spring came Feb. 17 in 1981. In 1964 this week, We splashed thru big puddles DT to get Christmas presents and go to see Mary Poppins.
