Trek domaine sl5
I am looking to buy a new bike . I am leaning towards at trek domaine sl5. I am curious about its climbing capabilities. I have been riding a madone for 13 years. Any bike suggestions, I am looking at the $3,000 to $4,000 range. I am a 60 year old 3,000 mile a year cyclist.

It's DOMANE not Domaine. Pronounced like tomorrow in Italian...do mah nee. It will climb just fine as you are the motor. You might not even notice any difference between it and the Madone. The only time the extra weight comes into play is when you're accelerating, not during stead state climbing.

I switched over from a 2008 Madone 4.5 to a Domane SL7 a couple of years ago when I turned 60. The Domane is definitely more oriented toward endurance or comfort, but I kinda needed that. Climbing has been fine with it here in SE Wisconsin. It's a great bike and I'm glad I made the investment.

I recently got a Domane after riding a Emonda and I love it...now....I dont have hills in Florida, but when I have to go over bridges, it works great...
Really simple too with the 11-34. I plan to take it with me to the hills of South Carolina next year, so it should be great.

It is a nice bike. I rode one in the Spring for about an hour or so.
Two others in that genre of bike are the Specialized Roubaix and my pick the Pinarello Paris. The Paris in my opinion is the nicest of the three. It takes a sharp eye to tell the 3k Paris from a 12k Dogma.
