10 speed Shimano 105 rear der for 7 speed cassette ?

My Suntour rear der is worn, more or less. I love friction so happy not to touch shifters but I would like to fit brand new, rear good quality der.
Can I use 10 speed, modern Shimano 105 as combination with brand new, 7 speed 12-32 Shimano cassette and Suntour friction shifter ?
Bike is Nishiki Olympic 12 (which I love to ride and hope to keep it for years).

A 10 speed RDER might have too narrow of a cage for best performance. (chain rub)
You can do a bang up job with a less expensive fewer speed RDER.
Something like an ALTUS level would shift a 7/8 speed just fine and would allow use of a 32T cog without problem. You could even use a triple crank if desired.
The 105 might not handle a 32T cog.

It will work great with friction shifters and shimano 7sp indexed shifters.

The only problem may be the wider 7/8-speed chain may be a bit too wide to clear the cage plates. Used with a 9 or 10-speed chain, it will work fine.

Not sure about 10 speed, but currently run a 9 speed 105 rear on my daughters 6 speed bike with 6-7-8 speed chain just fine.

I have a 9 spd 105 RD, and there is oodles of chain room. You would need a long cage 105 to handle over 28 cog teeth.....

Actually the long cage 105 will not handle any larger cog than the short. The extra length helps with chain wrap for triples. To be sure you have capacity for the 32t you need a 9 speed or earlier MTB derailleur, LX, Deore, etc. Sometimes you can use an older road rd with 32t but it depends on the derailleur hanger. Since you have to buy a derailleur, better to get the MTB and be done.

Adam; get this: Amazon.com : Shimano RD-M410 Alivio SGS Rear Derailleur (7/8-Speed, Long Cage, Silver) : Rear Bike Derailleurs : Sports & Outdoors
the new cassette and a new KMC X8.93 chain. All will be good with your current shifter.

Actually, I have a 50-34 compact double, and 11-30 cog. The long cage was necessary for the extra chain wrap needed for the 30t rear, also. It was fine with anything 25 up to 28, but not above that...... I suppose I could have looked for a 36-38 little ring, but that would negate the purpose of going to the 30t cog.

I'm also a fan of the 30t! Grant P has good things to say about the Altus, Shimano ALTUS rear derailer (RD-M310) - 17167
