My new ride...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My new ride...

...with in-tack bottom bracket (as of tonight)

Unboxed and built quickly. No adjustments made yet, fit will be dialed in throughout the week.

Really looking to upgrade the wheels, cant wait for that handbuilding session. Anyone interested in the Bonty Race wheels?

Cheers for looking!

Will be updated with actual riding weight in the near future.

and it depends on how much you're willing to part with the wheels for

You selling or giving?...haha. I ride a set and have had to warranty the rear wheel once already. I've got 3 separate friends who owned Treks/Lemonds with the same wheelset and EVERY ONE of them have had a wheel completely fail. I've had the best luck of all of us, so they haven't been completely terrible wheels for me, but still have a short lifespan. I can't believe they're still sending bikes out the door with them. If you're selling, I'd use CL and hope to sell to someone who doesn't know better.

Great to hear that you'll be building up your own wheels...something I'll be doing as well before too long if all goes as planned. Wheel building is fun.

These are the 2010wheels. Their shouldnt be any problems. The paired spoke design along with customers not paying attention to spoke tensioning would cause these aforementioned problems. I had to warranty 20-30 wheels in the past 3 years. I have also seen Bonty Selects (most notorious of them all) to last 5 years without problems.

Ok, I'm so jealous. That's one nice looking bike. I like your paint / color choices. What's up with tire color though, 1/2 red 1/2 black?

When did you order this again? I ordered mine on Dec 9 and I'm still waiting.

All bontrager tires come in a driveside sidewall coloured option (no full or center bead colour option)

I ordered my bike Nov 1, shipped Jan 5, received Jan 8.

Black rings? Hmmm..... While I love the look of the Red-- including the hoods-- I wonder how well the color will hold up over time (the hoods that is).

Very nice bike. I would be a little annoyed at the shop sticker on a high end bike like that, but at least it is relatively subtle and your cages should cover it up.

/OK, I had to dig for something a little negative---- I have bike envy.

Congrats on the new family member! Well done! These Madone's are absolutely awesome. I got mine about a week ago after a 3 month wait. Below are a few photos. Hope spring comes quickly so you can get that racing machine on the roads!

Looks nice, but seems TOO white in my eyes. Maybe a black stem/spacers would even it out a bit.

I hope you're right. Aside from the tendency to fail...my old "Races" have been pretty hands off. They roll well and haven't needed any maintenance. I'd been keeping a close watch on my spoke nipple areas on the rim after witnessing the others fail, so when it finally went out of true and I took a close look at it, the cracks were starting and I took it straight in. Do you know if they changed anything else with the 2010 model? or is it the same rim, different drilling?

I will take a look into that for you. I wouldn't be surprised if they beefed up the rim as well.

That is not a shop sticker but the a particular Trek Racing Bicycles model number from the P1 factory. It comes off easily. This bike is from my shop, I will be putting our shop stickers on it, no shame.
