Fisher Marlin single SS $399!
I am looking into entering the ss world and originally was leaning towards a karate monkey. After some consideration and a reduced budget, I was considering a nashbar ss for $375 (understanding I would be making some upgrades down the road). Today at my LBS, I saw a 2011 Marlin 29 ss for $399 (MSRP 639). What do you guys think? It rode well, 21 inch fit great. I don't understand the reasoning behind putting such a garbage suspension fork on it (I would likely quickly swap for rigid). Other than fork swap and maybe a smaller cog it seems good to go.

if you can afford it, and it fits and feels good, get it, and upgrade as needed. marlin is a good bike. the garbage fork you speak of is probably the reason it is so cheap.
