XC(ish) tires
Need new tires... My buddy rides WTB velociraptors, and seems to really love them. I need tires that perform in mud, hard single track, grip roots and rocks, good climbers but also roll well on the hard n' fast. Gotta grip the corners and climbs. Goin on a HT 26", if that matters.
Will NEVER be rode on pavement, and I'd like it if they lasted for awhile.

Ive got velociraptors on my bike. They really do grip literally everything ive come across in michigan... however, they are not what youd call fast rollers. The rear tire is like a tank track and its grips and rolls accordingly.
I think youll find that any tire capable of gripping nearly everything will not be fast tire.

I'm no expert, but I think you're kind of asking for it to do everything well, and therefore won't really find what you're looking for. You'll find tires that are good at specific things, but have weaknesses in other areas. A tire that does Everything, won't do any particular thing really well. There are always trade-offs. I'm currently running the 2.24" race version of WTB MotoRaptors. I love them and they grip great, are light for a tire of it's size and knobbyness, and roll well, but I'm sure they're not as fast as a low knob tire designed to be fast rolling. Maybe not as tough as a heavier/thicker tire either? They do climb like a mountain goat, though.
