More estate stuff

The box of parts I was supposed to get last week was delivered today. There's a lot to throw away and some surprising things. I've only glanced through it

A set of Brampton pedals that need some new grease

A Campagolo cable guide I haven't seen before

Some cool Raleigh part

And what seems to be a rare Schwinn Paramount adjustable track stem. It needs a good cleaning too

Cool parts. What model hub is that. The indicator wing nut is on the wrong side and should be reversed. If it's an ASC hub you'll need other changes too.
The Hercules shifters date to about 1950, they were offered on the Herailleur indexed system in '49.

Very cool stuff, much of it worth some coin in eBay.

Interesting; both of my 543's have plastic pulleys, yours has metal. Possibly a change they made during production?

Couldn't tell you for sure but based on the instructions in the box I'd say the metal smooth ones were from the factory and the plastic may have been changed by a subsequent owner. The instructions are all in French and my high school French class from 40 yrs ago only vaguely helps now.

Makes sense, except I am the original owner; well, bought from a guy who had them still untouched in the original boxes when I bought them from him in the mid-1970's along with other things in his basement stash. And these pulleys are stamped Simplex and oddly, offset with one boss thicker than the others, I guess unique to the 543 of did other Simplex derailleurs use such a thing (are your metal ones offset?)

By the way, with help, my wife translated the instructions, then I found them in English on one of the common old-bike websites. C'est la vie!

Ok, It would have ACS where the AW is. It also wouldn't freewheel in either direction, but would have a bit of play. I've only seen one in my life and that was on a bike at the first NAHMBS.
