Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is it windy out there for you too?

We're forecast to have 20-30mph all day, it's already blowing like crazy.

Like from lifting the Battaglin up onto the hooks, or trying to pull the Bianchi down from its place against the wall without moving the bikes in front of it?

Fake ride done with Zoom chat. It was advertised as a social/recovery ride, which for me is around 1.6-2 W/Kg. The pace was faster than that, with much of the ride at around 2.2-2.5, which may be recovery for some but after a hard ride yesterday it was not easy. I still hung in there and as usual, fake miles are better than none.

First road ride since Feb. 25 is in the books. The knee winced once or twice, and I am so far walking normally. I thought of another knee exercise I can do to help strengthen it. The Brooks was mostly more comfortable than expected, and shows promise after complete break-in. It was nice to get out there again.

Another super windy Spring day. I made sure to hold the car door open for Mrs. rjones28, when we went to brunch.

Now that I have mastered the French Press, I am frustrated by the 5-6 minute wait just to boil the water on the stove. What’s the word on electric teakettle or equivalent? Is it demonstrably better or faster than a stove-top pot?

I suggest moving to a much higher elevation.

Yep. The bread isn't as good, but the coffee is ready lickity split. There's also the added benefit of hypoxia.

Not only do those things boil water wicked pissa fast, you can get one that’s thermostatically controlled for 200° water, which is superior for coffee. I drink very expensive green tea and like my brewing water at 165°. Hard to do on the stove.

Dude. Slow down and smell the roses.

Use the time to stretch your hammies or lube your chain.

Good news now the rain forecasted is no longer forecasted. Bad news winds are now gusting 25 mph. Is that going to stop this guy? Nope becuase I HTFU, unless my wife says otherwise.

But is that enough time to clean the chain before lubing the chain?

I always imagine that wind would be less demoralizing on a trike, is there any truth in that idea?

Yes, and they don't come any lower than mine. Still not all that fast but a lot less effort in the wind.

This is our only regular outing this past year. SkyTop Coffee Company- Organic, Fair Trade, Specialty Coffee Roaster

I had a mixed berry crepe and a latte. Mrs. rjones28 had spiced oatmeal and an iced chai latte.
