Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Are you getting out or is the wife done with my noise?

I might squeeze out for some z2, but my wife wants me to see about scrubbing the house.

Ritchey recently starting making a tapping noise when I pedal. Today it was even more consistent but I can’t figure it out. Sounds just like the cable coupler tapping the the frame, but only one that would be able to do that is the rear brake. I held that with my hand today and pedaled and the sound was still there. Doesn’t make the sound if I stop pedaling. Could this be BB creak on a steel bike? Will investigate more later.

Can someone post a picture of mineral spirit oil they use to clean their chains? Need an example, if it’s going to be raining these next couple of days I want to do a deep cleaning my bikes are nasty.

My alarm didn’t go off this morning so I only had time for a short ride. I got the munchkin all day today so I won’t be able to get out again today.

See how easy that was? Told ya you just had to try a little harder.
That's a weenie wrench.

This a real man's torque wrench. Multi-use as well. Can be bungeied on vertically to use as a kickstand and can be weaponized in those situations where cars pass to close or start bike raging you.

Added bonus is the complimentary color scheme.

Well done! Fastened thus, it would be hard to convince me that it wasn't custom made for your bike - it almost disappears!

I have an old-school Park Tool beam-type torque wrench. I don't know if that is "better" or "worse" than the dial type but works ok for me.

Beam torque wrenches don’t require calibration, but take a little skill to use correctly.

First organized weekday ride of the season. I really love the short, hard, stuff...especially on the days when I can keep up.

I've got two of the Harbor Freight ones, one in inches with the 1/4" drive and one in feet with a 3/8" drive. We used to have a reference torque meter at work that I always meant to check them against for S&Gs, but what I don't know about their accuracy or repeatability hasn't hurt me...yet

My big one I've had for years - a 1/2" drive beam type that my folks gave me as part of a graduation gift. At our high school graduation both me and my brother received a Craftsman rolling toolbox filled with all the necessary stuff. One of the best gifts I've ever received. I finally used that beam wrench for the first time about a month ago when I did the brakes on my wife's car

Just got done with follow up televisit for my back. I reported no improvement which is true. now they want to do an EMG nerve conduction study before going further. Sounds like fun. Their approach is to shoot and then find the target later - apparently. That's why they call it PRACTICING medicine. Practice? Practice? SMFH.
