Short Cage vs. Mid Cage - Measurement to check?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Short Cage vs. Mid Cage - Measurement to check?

Does anyone have a measurement of the arm that I could use for reference to check if mine's mid or short?

I've got a 2014 Cannondale Synapse Tiagra. There's no SS or GS stamped on the derailleur to immediately identify it (only marked as RD-4601). I have a 12-30 cassette which falls into the top range of the SS (30T)

I would like to go to an 11-32 but not sure if I need to get the longer derailleur (need a GS to get to 32T)

Already long cage I would bet. But you have not provided a pic or year exact model, so I am now a mind reader.
There are numbers stamped in the cage most likely. You need to look.

You should be able to tell by looking at the EV.
A long cage is usually very obvious.

My guess too. I was hoping someone had a measurement that I could use for reference to check mine.

The stamped numbers did not have GS or SS. Model was noted but I added year.

2016 looks like long cage in pictures. 2014 looks like short cage in pictures.
I measured a short cage Ultegra and it was 2.322 inches or 59mm measured center to center of the pulley bolts.
2014 pic here.. looks like short:
