Long lost bike I wanted bitd...
I briefly worked at Illinois Cycle many years ago when i was broke and had a young family. While there I coveted a Raleigh Touring 14. It seemed like a ticket to adventure that I couldnt afford. Well I just ran into a nearly perfect example with the Illinois Cycle sticker on it and its my size. 80 bucks and I couldnt pass it up. I definitly dont need it but its fun.
Double butted 4130, suntour barcons and cantis. What more could you need?

Some time back on craigslist or facebook marketplace, I came across a Takara 960 for $75 but passed on it simply because the front brake was missing and the pictures indicated it needed a lot of work. Regret number 2.
Recently I found an '81 Takara 950 Deluxe 12 that not only was close to my old bike, but was 100% original. The tires, while dry rotted, still had the little nibs and the bike did not appear to have been used much at all and very well stored. I snatched it up in a heartbeat and I feel 18 again when I ride it. If I ever run across a 960 again no matter what condition, I probably won't pass this time.

I have looked at four Raleigh tourer 14s in person and all of the ones I observed had Raleigh 4130 double butted cro mo main tube stickers on them and cast dropouts with screw adjustments......these were highest quality Japanese touring bikes.......some say Miyata made them some say Bridgestone because they are so nicely done and there are a few more guesses but whoever did manufacture them built a great touring bike
