Crank arm length can really mess with you knees, even just a little added length. But, I would first try the previous suggestion.

You shouldn't have any pain in the knees post ride. If you had some before on shorter rides, and now have more on longer rides, then it's a fit or overuse issue. This can be related to having to cant your feet one way or another (this will directly affect your knee), or can be related to muscular/illiotibial band issues, which which cause generalized pain in the outside of the knee area.

Get your fit checked, and maybe see a physio. More riding will only make it worse.

For Shimano 11-speed with 52/36 in the front and 11-28 in the back, will short cage work or does this setup need a medium cage?

Pretty sure you'll need the medium cage.

Update to this: Seems like it was fitment. I adjusted my saddle position and the pain is gone now. Thanks for the replies!

hearing a rattling sound when I go over bumps/potholes - I think it's the chain rattling on the cog? does this mean the chain is too loose? Because I'm pretty sure it's not. i hadn't had this issue with a previous chain. If i look down while riding and see the chain sway side to side a little going over bumps - need to tension?

My chains flop around over bumps if they are not under pedaling tension. Loose is good. Too loose is not. If you can't manually force it to derail, it won't derail when riding.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy water bottles that are...

- Large - 26oz or so.
- Wide mouth with a screw on lid for easy loading with ice.
- power-flow valve instead of a pull up valve
- Clear so that the amount of liquid is visible
- Prefer no logo at all but will take what I can get.
- Isn't made by Polar or Camelbak.

Something similar to what's pictured below but bigger?

I'd say the Purists bottles, but the valve is a pull up, but you could always swap lids.

I only use the Camelbak bottles because I prefer colder water and anything not insulated, pretty much boils in the Phoenix heat. I skip the ice though, and just freeze water in the bottle.

That said...the Tacx Shanti bottle fits most of your requirements, but I don't know anyone that uses Tacx bottles except for the pros who are sponsored by them.

I'm curious about that part. Because Camelbak Podiums fit the bill, other than being Camelbak.

Camelbak lacks the groove which allows it to engage the lip in bottle cages. The groove also engages the elastic in a jersey pocket for when I carry a bottle on my fixed gear bike which doesn't have cage mounts.

I know some will say that it works for them. That's fine. I just don't like the fact that it doesn't have the groove, that's all. Personal preference. Nothing against Camelbak products in general. Hydrate or die!

I guess Camelbak changed their bottles? Mine is a few years old and has the lip exactly like the LOOK bottle you posted. Yeah, I prefer the little extra grip too.

Ironically I just bought a 26oz Camelback Podium @ Performance Bike earlier this afternoon for less than $10 on a big sale(?) they have going on thru today. It doesn't have a groove but instead has indentations that serve the same purpose very well. You are certainly entitled to want what you want but I don't get making a big deal about the difference.

I think the newer ones don't have as much of a lip because they made them so they squeeze easier.

Still, I'm pretty sure I could throw my bike off the Grand Canyon and the Arundel Mandible cages would still be holding onto my Camelbak bottles.

It's a great bottle. This will last you a while for sure. Most Specialized dealers should have these in stock. That is where I got mine.

Do you like the groove because it stays in the cage better or that it's easier to hold while riding? I've been using nothing but Camelbak Podiums for three years and haven't ejected a bottle out of the cage once.
