You won't find me riding this in Boulder any time soon, because I and my Miyata now live in Seattle. That's Elliot Bay (Seattle waterfront) in the background. Boulder has fantastic cycling, but the Pacific NW is equally and differently great. And the hills are generally steeper here, too - hence the triple ring now.

We had the first proper spring weekend here in Stockholm, so I mounted a set of tanwall tires and went for a short ride.

Miyata Elevation 10 000 single speed, 42x15. Rigid fork from carboncycles.cc (Xotic) and an assortment of parts from the shelves in my garage.

My 87' 312 winter project, nearly complete. Hoping for a ride Tuesday (58 degrees) before 4-8 inches of the white crap on Wednesday.

The Elevation 10,000 would make a nice Herbold replica, AndreasVH. Pretty rare frame.

That looks awesome. How did you get the right chain tension, magic gear? Filed axles?

Dumb luck! I used a tensioner before to pick up the slack when using a 16t in the rear. When I swapped to the gofaster one I removed a link (or two) and suddenly it was perfect.

@Elev12k: No replica builds! I´d go crazy looking for parts... It works perfect as a gravel bomber and occasional commuter like this.

My '78 TwoTen

All original and was bought by original owner in '78, rode until '82 when mountain biking came into play, garaged until summer of 2013.

I bought it off of him for $90

Hi I'm looking for a steel Miyata 54cm to 56cm seat tube with 55cm to 56cm top tube.....I currently have a 54cm Team Miyata 1987, which is seat tube 54cm c-t ST and 54cm c-c top tube, and just too small for me...
Miyata team, pro, 914, 912, 1400, other and earlier models of similar level are all of interest.
Cheers -VM

velomack, you have too few posts to PM, but I have a Miyata 512 that was my rider until last weekend when I found a 712 that I am going to keep. So I'm going to sell the 512, it's blue white and in great shape, size is pretty close so I'd have to measure it tonight but if your interested email me @ alan.jylha@gmail.com. Also I'm from Northern Minnesota so shipping wouldn't be too terrible. Thanks Al.

I need to build up my team miyata. I have a complete superbe pro gruppo for the build. I raced that bike for many years; it was perhaps the best handling bike I have ever owned:

Thanks from Minnesota, let me know on size, ideally I want an upper level frame but may consider yours if size appropriate.
Also was unaware of this posting and PM restriction???
fifty seven years on this ball, with no intentions other than sharing in our cycling community.... being restricted to participate doesn't seem like an adult version in social behavior? I guess I get the rule, but seemingly, there should be exceptions for those who aren't parked in front of their computers all day long bouncing on the keys when an idea strikes.......of course all Miyata folk here, this does not apply!?

Wow two very nice Team Miyata examples, pre 1987 looks smaller, but the 1990+ could be a 56cm....would like to know more and see your final build, good luck with both builds.....very NICE!

Thanks for sharing, I really like seeing the steel Miyata's and Koga Miyata's on fine display.

My New Baby near m

In February we had a house fire and my CF roadbike didn't make it. Decided to replace it with steel. Found a NOS 1990 Team Miyata Frame and built it up with near mint DA 7400 (except for the brakes, dual pivot 7403). Alas, DA headsets were just too pricey and mostly too tall stack height, so went with Stronglight A9. Got a good deal on a Fizik Arione CX Carbon, put on Soma Hwy One bars to tighten the cockpit, and shimano SPD pedals. It rides really, really well. Thought the splash of color yellow on the bars would be nice, but I'll be going with white instead for a clean, simple look.

1986 Miyata 610 turned gravel randonneur. Posted in CV gravel grinder thread as well. Only changes made where moving the DT shifters to bar-ends using riv pods, aero brakes, seat, and tires.

I bought the bike in 1992 but the bike is a 1990 team miyata. I had the shop I used to work order the bike for me. It is a 56 (C to T) square. The tubing is splined and all the lugs, fork crown, and BB are investment cast. The fork crown is unusual because it looks like a unicrown from a distance but it is an investment cast aero crown. I raced the bike and rode it for a number of years; it is time I thought about putting it back together.

HI CenturionIm.......yes I'm in the market to trade or sell, I guess, now that I've generated some interest. The frame and fork are as in picture, of which I can provide more images, therefore, not built currently.
God I wish I could find the equivalent of this frame in a 56......anyway, back to this frame set, fork and rear triangle are full chrome, no corrosion what so ever, frame is straight and true, rear derailleur hanger is spot on, threads are clean and in fine order.
There are scuffs and marks aplenty, however nothing beyond the expected for a twenty seven year old frame, decals may have an occasional mark or scrape but are nearly fully intact and remain very resilient.
My take on this frame is that it saw use but not a lot and not any real hard use, many of these marks could have occurred in storage, yet, there is a wheel rub mark through paint and chrome on inside of one of the chain stays, the only mark through paint and chrome.
I picked this up some time ago and the owner was a bit vague on the size and as I was fixated on Miyata's (size) that predate '87, where a frame size 54cm, was 54cm c-c not like this 54cm c-t, this is simply too small for me.
Any other questions, please ask.
Take care -mike

velomack- I forgot to measure last night. It's the forum rules where you have to have 50 post to send a PM. Thought it was kind of crazy, but it keeps the scammers overseas from pulling photo's off the web and trying to sell a bike to anyone on here that doesn't really exist, but too cheap to resist.

Miyata Ridge Runner Team

This is my first post and wanted to show my recent acquisition -
Have not had time to clean and inspect yet...The Flanders decal leads me to believe it was a sponsored bike. Regarding Miyata's, I also have a 912 road bike with the pink head set bought last winter and picked up a 93 Elevation 5000 tonite which by coincidence was sold to me by a Flanders sponsored rider. The 5000 Jim Flanders built wheel set as well as the original XT hub wheels.
