Decided against kit. The funds are more necessary for the other project.

Got to spend some time in a pre-pipe welding course at another school. Practicing common techniques on beveles plates out of position. Sucks to be the new guy to a class.

Does this mean, soon we will be calling you a boilermaker?

Are you using a figure 8 technique on that bead on the right?

Today I n+1 for a total cost of zero $$$. Photos of this new project will be posted next Wednesday when I fire up my PC. Until then, I'll leave it up to your imagination what it is. The only thing I'll say for now is that it is a bicycle and that it is rideable.

Can't say yet! Boilermaker, pipe fitter or welder. I applied to a trainee spot with Chevron which will cover all three skills.
It's a 3/8" plate with an open root V groove. e6010 root pass and e7018 fill and weave cap.

Never tried a e6010 but I have burned a lot of e6011s which is very similar (but will work on an AC only buzzbox). Lots of penetration very little slag.

Yeah, they're nice for home projects. My dad has a Lincoln tombstone and packs of 6011 and 6013

After spending way too much time exploring pedal options for the new whip, I ended up buying another pair of GR-9's; today I spent my lunch break greasing the bearings. True to form, they arrived a little tight and undergreased. (inb4 twss)

Today I rode this...

Local MTB area closes tomorrow for hunting season and the place was packed. I rode past on the FG and decided to stop to check out the machines.

Mountain bikes are like wine to me. I don't know much about wine but I know what I like when I taste it. I don't know much about MTB but I know what looks good to my eye and this just looked nice. Guy was like, "You can ride it if you want" and just handed it to me - southern hospitality.

So I shouldn't have rode it. As someone else said in one of the threads, apparently I need this.

Can anyone explain this thing with people following their kids in their car while they trick or treat? Are they just too lazy to walk or afraid of bad weather or what? It's making an already dangerous night worse.
