Can anyone in Tijuana recommend 2 or 3 good bike shops?
When I go to San Diego I ride the trolley. And with that, I can't go to San Diego to buy a bike because I don't have a car which means I would not be able to haul it from San Diego to Tijuana.
And besides, since I live in TJ I need to learn where 2 or 3 good bike shops in TJ are located, if they exist. I'm defining "a good bike shop" as one that has a good/decent selection of new and used bikes.

You might want to pose your question on the Southern California forum: https://www.bikeforums.net/forumdispl...ern-California
I'm pretty sure a few people there go back and forth across the border every day, that being the busiest crossing anywhere.

Would it be possible to ride the trolley to San Diego, buy a bike, and then ride it back to Tijuana?

I didn't think there was any bike shops in TJ. All I know of is a couple homes that seems like a lot girls live in and for some reason they all have red porch lights........

I live in Tijuana too. Check out this page https://www.facebook.com/playas.nbc?fref=ts
This guy organizes rides and is trying to create a bike culture (in the Playas section of Tijuana). Maybe he can help you out.

You can take a bike on the Trolley. I have done it many times. If you do, it is best to get on at the very back of the last car. The wheel chair lifts ar at either end of the cars, but only the one at the front gets used, making the one at the back a good place to store the bike.
The train changes direction at each end of the line, so when you get to San Ysidro and get off, where you were keeping the bike becomes the front. The chair lift needs to be at the front of the train so the conductor can operate it.
I may ask you about good bike routes in Tijuana. I travel to our factory there from Otay to Plaza Carosel on Bl Ordaz. I have been taking a taxi down Cardenas, but the crossings over the river are kind of scary.
EDIT https://ridewithgps.com/routes/4871309 I did take my bike once, parking it at a warehouse we keep on the US side. and catching a cab on the Mexico side. This map shows the route. I got off the trolley at Palm Ave and rode to Otay, that being a better route than San Ysidro to Otay, even though a little further. The part of the route in TJ shows the route the cab takes.
Going down the hill on Cardenas is probably OK, and I have seen bikes on it. I can get up to a decent speed and keep up somewhat. Going up hill is different, and think the neighborhood to the west may be a better option, even though there are some pretty steep parts.
The problem is that I don't see any really good, safe route over the river. What do you think?
