I just picked up a NOS Sturmey Archer AW hub for 12 bucks. Now, the only proper way to celebrate is to build a new wheelset, which will require a bike...

You buy the cups that you need (in my case BSA threaded but they have French, Swiss, Chatter Lea, Italian, T47...) I forgot to add those to the photo but in case you needed some:

Picked up a Castelli thermal base layer for $10. Originally $89. It was marked XXL but since it was Castelli it fit my size L body just fine.

New helmet: Bontrager Circuit MIPS. I usually don't think much of Bontrager stuff, but this is a pretty sweet hat. Fits great, adjustment with the boa system is really comfy, and it has nifty magnetic mounts for lights or GoPro.

I've always been "meh." on most of their stuff, even after Trek acquired them, and perhaps more so since then. But I have to admit they have some pretty nice components lately. My wife has one of their tail lights on her bike and it's a great product. Ditto her tires, which are a 700 x 32 city/hybrid tire, with a model name I don't recall now.

I can't get over the rims with cracks around the spoke holes and spokes pulling out after six months use.
Keith Bontrager blogged that it was corrosion and the owners were at fault for not rinsing winter salt off the wheels after use.
I purchased them as a wheelset and Bontrager shipped rims only under warranty expecting me to pay labor for the rebuild.
Yeah, it was a decade ago and I'm pretty easy going but I'll never own a Bontrager component as long as I live. Really can't stand to even look at their logo on another's bike.

Ahhh keep playing that sweet music.I love hearing people not being Trek Fan Youngins. If Trek went out of business tomorrow I wouldn't shed a tear. Though if I could substitute Huffy or Vilano or something I would.

Gino Bartali won the TdF and the Giro and was a sports hero in Italy prior to World War II. During the war he risked his life to save Jews and carried documents in his bike frame. Many of the people he worked with were sent to concentration camps and killed. He managed to survive, partly due to the fact that he was a well known cyclist and after the war he made a comeback won the TdF again.

They got me this time and without even trying I'm signed up to pay $11/month or something like that. It took a few minutes to figure out how but I cancelled it immediately.

700c x 44 Compass tires mounted on H Plus Son TB14 hoops to Formula hubs. Really stoked on how they came out. Unexpectedly, the sidewalls on these tires are condom thin...we'll see how they do on a daily commuter (hoping for the best!).

Good stuff, I love all of my Cane Creek Headsets and have two 110s and I guess 3-4 40s but I may eventually swap in some 110 bearings on my road bike and my old Langster is retiring with a relatively new 40 headset on it to replace the crushed mindset that was in it originally, so the ratios will change.

Just received this Astute saddle from the owner of my local bike shop. Much lighter than my previous mtb saddle. My bike was 18.9lbs and now it's at 18.0lbs flat. First time having a seat with a cutout.

Just ordered these in 700x32. Couldn’t resist. One of my favourite tires is the 650bx42 grand bois hêtre in cream/ivory and have wanted anything close to that in 700 forever. I was really close to purchasing a set of the tan/black gravelkings anyway when I came across these. Not the same as the grand bois’ but still really good looking.
