First, I wonder if anyone is using Micro Shift thumb shifters (MSTS) on drop bars? I like my MSTS. I am wondering if it would be possible to mount them on the smaller tube diameter? I don’t think the small diameter keeper will go over the 31mm section.

I have seen 1X single levers. I think I have even seen them for 12 speeds, like the eagles. I have been thinking about a Ritchey Venturemax drop bar.
