eBikeling Mid-Drive $1199
Looked at their site and noticed a mid-drive fat tire hardtail with a Bafang Max Mid motor system for $1199 delivered. Bafang claims 80 nm of torque so it's within range of many other OEM bikes. Seems like a pretty good deal. Disclaimer: I'm not associated with Bafang or eBikeling in any way.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

I am guessing that this is the one.
I would be a bit hesitant to purchase a Chinese motor based e-bike without trying it first. I currently have a Chinese 750W mid-drive with a throttle-less torque sensor. It puts out less apparent power than the 350W geared hub motor I used before it. They both have less performance than a 250W Bosch mid-drive that I test rode.
I am pretty sure that, in my case, the 750W rating is that it can put out 750W for a short time before melting. Even though BaFang is considered to be pretty honest in its power ratings, I would want to test ride the BAFANG 36V 250W before spending money on it.
I also notice that the description says "Suspension on front and back." Yet, the image clearly does not show suspension on the back.

I have two Bafang BBS02-equipped bikes (built up and tested the second since I thought the first would need to be repaired/replaced some day) ans my wife has one. All have performed superbly (although not many miles on my second one). All of the BBS's will run circles around my Haibike Yamaha, my friend's Brose-equipped Bulls or a Bosch-equipped Felt even at half-power (that is a PAS level of "4" (of "9") on one system or "2" (of "5") on the other
