West Side Canal Loop

Last Sunday afternoon I rode a westside canal loop. This is an easy one because it requires no planning. Just go looking for interesting stuff. The only item I noted was motorized vehicles on the path. Some of the Grand Canal Path motor vehicles are allowed. However parts are not. I think the SUV and the Quad were on the motor vehicles canal path. However I think the 3 kids on dirt bikes were not. Que sera.

The Strava is here. https://www.strava.com/activities/2889544906

Below are some of the shots.

New River under Grand Ave

Trail Closed. I saw a few people crossing the barrier. If you look at the pic above there's nothing dangerous. I think the responsible people just didn't bother to open the gates on Sunday. But not willing to risk the fines frivolously.

So instead of crossing the 1" deep water back there after detouring an extra mile or two I crossed the 6" deep water here.

Thanksgiving Downtown Phoenix Ride

Thanksgiving day I had a chance for a short ride before dinner.

The Strava is here. https://www.strava.com/activities/2897876080

Some pix below.

I used to work in the building behind the fence. What building you say? It's gone now.

Behind Mrs White's Golden Rule Cafe.

One of these days I'm gonna check it out. They got good reviews.

2019-11-30 Encanto-Oak Loop

Sunday was out. Managed a short ride Saturday afternoon. Had to ride by the ATM so looped out to Oak St near
16th St to check out the murals. Glad I did. There are some new ones. There are a lot more in the neighborhood
than I could shoot.

Deer Valley Loop

Rainy day yesterday. Well, light rain. It was a nice rain Saturday night. Sunday morning instead of starting out on the bike I drove to McDs for breakfast. Left home about 6:30. The Strava is here. https://www.strava.com/activities/2920354858

Saw an interesting sculpture at an out of the way strip mall.

The gorgon was stoned. From there up 12th St to Mountain View Rd. Then on Cave Creek Rd going north. The sky started sputtering small drops on the way to Thunderbird Rd. After that it started getting heavier. Still just a light sprinkle. But the streets were getting wetter. I stopped and put electronics & paper into plastic bags in my pack.

Despite the rain it felt warmer. So I took off a layer too. Then back on the road heading to Dunkin Donuts north of the 101. Usually I eat outside there. Yesterday I ate inside. The hot coffee and apple fritter went down good.

At Deer Valley Rd I turned west. Thinking about pulling out my camera for aircraft. Not too many flying in the light rain. Stopped to shoot the east marker near 7th St.

I did wander around west of Deer Valley Airport. Missed my few opportunities for shots. Heading south I shot the freeway interchange. lol.

A few miles later I found some flowers to shoot.

A few more shots.

Clouds on Shaw Butte.

Cleaned my bike when I got home.
