1989 Cannondale sm900 build help
I’ve been lurking, reading and learning a lot from this forum and figured it was time to join. First off thanks for the knowledge already shared. Ok, I just picked up an 89 Cannondale mountain bike - I always loved them but could never afford one back in the 80s - definitely not original as it has a crappy suspension fork, cheap handle bars w/twist grips and cheap levers - the crankset is Shimano Deore and the deraillurs are Alivia. The hubs are Maillard with sun rims. I’d like to build this as close to original as possible and would like some recommendations please. Going to put a rigid fork on it. Thanks for any Suggestions

I rode the "beast of the east" back then and still have a 1994 Killer-V that the beast turned into after 2 warranty frames (lifetime back then). I will be doing a minor spruce-up of that bike as well once I get the stem/headset sorted out.
Good luck, I loved that bike. The 13" bottom bracket height was a dream for trail riding clearance.

Thanks for the advice - I think I’ll looks for more modern parts - on the hunt for a good rigid fork and I’ll start the build
